Emory was never "afraid" of playing CVC, despite what the Coalfield and Post have written in the past. Fact is the NCAA would not recognize a win over a NAIA team for playoff seeding purposes, so when E&H beat CVC it didn't count in the eyes of the NCAA. This was at the point and time where a 10-0 record sometimes wouldn't even get you in the playoffs (E&H in 1995) so even going undefeated and playing a NAIA team would make you 9-0 in the eyes of the NCAA. Ask Dewey he coached at E&H during this time.
Things have changed and winning the ODAC would put Emory in the playoffs but there are also at-large bids that go to teams that don't win their conference but still go 9-1. I have a hard time believing Monty would back down from any game.
I think the game would be good for the area but I also think the Waspers have gotten the bad rap over the series being not renewed all these years. CVC can have the sign of SW VA's Team maybe we can put one up at Fullerton Field sying something like SW. Va's Best Team. Too bad I graduated before CVC fielded a team I would have loved to have played in the first Redneck Bowl.
What is the actual series record? Emory 2-0. Is that right?
E&H also has several local boys playing as well. I do think it would be great for E&H and UVAW to play again. It would be great for both schools and get the local communities involved. It also gives the players a chance to play some of the other players they faced in high school.
I as a huge E&H fan would love to see them play again. It's a natural rivalry would be huge gates and to any of you that have'nt been to a Emory tail gate it's something special.

Even if that's the case, why not still schedule the game? It's not like Emory has been even close to an undefeated season the last four or five years. Financially it's a huge gate and thousands of people would show up. Both of these teams could use a big rival that's within close proximity to one another. It should be a no brainer for the AD's and the coaching staffs.
